How can I copy a complete logbook?
How to make a complete copy of a logbook — via SQLite export and import, on iOS and Android.

“The Logbook app looks great and offers lots of options, thank you. After a year I was out on a cruise again and would like to give my holiday crew a shortened logbook. To do that, I want to copy the original logbook with all its entries and then trim it to my liking. How can I do that? Nautical greetings from Switzerland.”
1. Export the whole database
The easiest way to copy an entire logbook is to export the whole database: Tools → Export logbook → SQLite.
Then save the file — on iOS, for example, to iCloud via the Files app; on Android, to Google Drive.
2. Import the file back into the app
From here, the steps differ slightly between iOS and Android.
iOS
Open the file where you saved it and send it to the Logbook app using the Share button (the square with an arrow pointing up). If the app doesn’t appear, scroll to the right and choose the Logbook app under “More”.
Android
Go to Tools → Import SQLite database and select the file you saved to Google Drive.
3. From here on it’s the same on both platforms
Choose the logbook to import. It now exists twice under the same name, so rename one of them straight away to avoid mixing them up later. You can then trim the copy however you like: via Tools → Delete you can remove whole ranges or individual days from the copy until only what your crew should see is left. Then all that’s left is to hand it over to your crew. If anything doesn’t work, just get in touch via the Support page.
