How can I use NMEA and mobile internet at the same time?

“When I connect my iPhone or iPad to my NMEA-to-Wi-Fi gateway, everything works via NMEA, but the mobile data connection stops working. Can it be set up so that both work?”
Normally this happens automatically
When iOS notices that the Wi-Fi network you’re connected to (your NMEA gateway) has no internet access, the internet connection normally runs over mobile data in parallel — provided you answered yes when iOS asked whether you wanted to stay connected to this Wi-Fi despite the lack of internet.
If it doesn’t work
If it still doesn’t work, you can set both up manually:
- Open Settings, then Wi-Fi.
- Connect to your NMEA gateway’s Wi-Fi.
- Tap the (i).
- Note down the IP address and subnet mask.
- Change “Configure IP” from Automatic to Manual.
- Enter the IP address and subnet mask you noted, and leave the Router field empty.
- Save — you should now have internet over mobile data and NMEA over Wi-Fi.
