About Logbook

What Logbook is

Logbook replaces the handwritten ship's log on board sailing and motor boats. The app records the trip in the background: position, course, speed and time are captured continuously, with nobody on deck having to write anything down.

If an NMEA network is available on board, Logbook additionally reads values from the boat electronics — among them wind speed, wind direction, water depth, water temperature and log. Without NMEA the app works purely from the device GPS.

Who it is for

The app is aimed at cruising sailors, charter skippers, motorboat owners and crews who need to document sea miles for licences and mileage confirmations. Families also use it to produce an illustrated trip report as a keepsake.

Core features

Automatic entries via GPS and NMEA, background tracking of trips, pro-grade PDF export for mileage confirmation, maritime geocoding of harbours and sailing areas, plus trip and mileage statistics across the whole season.

Logbooks can be synchronised across several devices, including between iOS and Android. Exports are also available as GPX, KML and CSV.
